About the project
Access to knowledge and the exploitation of scientific results are basic requirements for competitiveness and growth in the region of Southern Denmark/Schleswig-Holstein. In recent years, a number of scientific collaborations and research projects have been initiated between academic institutions in this region. However, there is a potential to expand and improve the collaboration activities in order to create a competitive and dynamic knowledge-based society.
With the establishment of the Videnregion/Wissensregion project we aim to make use of existing competencies, to facilitate the initiation of new collaborations, and to help promote the dissemination of research results within the region and beyond in order to create maximal synergy.
Our vision is to expand and strengthen cross-border collaborations in research and academic education between Southern Denmark and Schleswig-Holstein. We will achieve this through intelligent networking among all involved academic institutions:

- University of Applied Sciences Kiel
- University of Flensburg
- Flensburg University of Applied Sciences
- University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein
- Odense University Hospital
The Videnregion/Wissenregion project office assists researchers in finding collaboration partners by providing an overview of projects and contact persons at the partner institutions. The office facilitates collaboration by giving advice on selected scientific fields of cross-border research collaboration, on mobility and exchange between the partners, on PhD programmes and tech transfer.
The project office is located at University of Southern Denmark in Odense, Denmark.
The project is funded by INTERREG 4 A Syddanmark-Schleswig-K.E.R.N. of the European Regional Development Fund.
